Hello!

I like to think of myself as a creative person. I want to do things my way and express life the way I see it. Photography enables me to do this and I’m very grateful for it. I  also like to think that by being a portrait photographer, I earn a living by bringing happiness to people by capturing special moments (like wedding days), special people in their lives and/or special times. I really love this work!!

There is a lot of talent and creativity around us and there are many ways to use your artistic expression in a positive manner.

Which brings me to Souper Jazz.

These gentlemen combine their love of music and their love of playing music with a very good cause: the Shepherds of Good Hope. I went for a walk on Sparks Street today and they were playing there. It’s always a treat to hear them so I listened for a bit and a took a few photos. I admire their talent and generosity and the spirit in which they do this. They chose the name “Souper Jazz” to illustrate that they play music to help feed the hungry. I personnaly think their choice of name is a stroke of creative genius.

Souper Jazz - Sparks Street

Je sais qu’on est encore loin de la saison froide mais j’ai reçu quelques appels récemment pour des mariages qui auront lieu en janvier et février. Je suis surpris de voir que (selon les dires de mes clients) certains photographes refusent de photographier dehors en hiver par crainte d’abîmer leur équipement. Je ne crois pas qu’un équipement photographique professionnel soit en danger dans le froid. Au pire, les piles vont se vider un peu plus vite et on aura de la buée sur le viseur et l’objectif en entrant dans la salle. Rien de majeur.

C’est un peu triste parce que c’est assez rare qu’on a l’occasion de travailler en extérieur en cette saison et je m’imagine déjà les images qui sortiront de ces mariages. Vous ai-je mentionné qu’une des cérémonies aura lieu sur la neige? J’ai très hâte!
